US President Donald Trump said he expected much more negative economic consequences from the conflict with Iran, but nevertheless decided to launch a military operation against the Islamic Republic.

“We had no choice. But I thought it would be a lot worse“, he said. “I thought oil prices would be higher. I thought stock prices would be a little lower. But I didn't care“, he added, speaking at the annual fundraising event organized by the House Republican Campaign Committee.

“We had to eliminate cancer. The cancer is Iran armed with nuclear weapons,“ the American leader said.

Trump called the US and Israeli operation against the Islamic Republic “a trip to hell, a trip to a terrible place“.
