US President Donald Trump said today that "the US may stop by Cuba" after "they are done with Iran", Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
He told reporters that many American citizens of Cuban origin had been "treated very badly" and that many of their family members had been killed or beaten.
"Cuba is a failed state", Trump said, adding that the Caribbean island had been "governed terribly for many years" by communist revolutionary Fidel Castro.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel warned Washington the other day not to escalate the conflict between the two countries into a military confrontation.
"If that happens, there will be fighting", Diaz-Canel said, adding that the country does not want war.
Trump has threatened to take tougher measures against Cuba on several occasions and has spoken openly about the possibility of "taking over" the island.
In March, Cuba confirmed that it was holding talks with the United States to ease tensions in relations.
