Lebanon has accused Israel of war crimes after an airstrike in the south of the country that killed a journalist and wounded another, Reuters reported, quoted by News.bg.
According to Lebanese authorities, the attack killed Amal Khalil, a journalist for the newspaper “Al-Akhbar“, and wounded photographer Zeinab Faraj. Beirut claims that the two were the targets of successive strikes - first on a car, then on a house where they were hiding.
According to official sources, Israeli forces also hindered rescue operations, including by shelling a Red Cross ambulance. The Israel Defense Forces denied the allegations and said they had attacked vehicles linked to a “Hezbollah“ facility.
International organizations for the protection of journalists strongly condemned the incident, warning of a possible violation of international humanitarian law.
The incident further increases tensions in the region, where despite the agreed ceasefire, both sides continue to accuse each other of violating it.
