The former finance director of Donald Trump's organization - Alan Weiselberg, was sentenced to five months in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of perjury about the financial condition of the former president from the Republican Party, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA .

Today's decision by the Manhattan court upholds the sentence against Weiselberg, which was imposed on March 4. He was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.

Last year, Weiselberg, 76, spent nearly three months in New York's Rikers Island prison after pleading guilty to participating in a tax fraud scheme at the Trump Organization.

The perjury charges Weiselberg was convicted of today stemmed from his testimony in a lawsuit against Trump, Weiselberg and other executives of the former president's real estate company on charges that they manipulated property valuations to defraud creditors and insurers.

On October 10, Weiselberg testified in court that he had no part in preparing a false appraisal of Trump's Manhattan home.

Trump's financial statements for 2015 and 2016 valued the property at $327 million based on a stated size of nearly 3,000 square meters, nearly three times the actual square footage. According to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, emails from the former CFO show that he was indeed paying close attention to the property in question.

Weiselberg also admitted he had previously lied about his role in preparing Trump's financial statements.

Trump was found guilty in this case and in February the court fined him $454 million.

The former president appealed the decision and a New York court scheduled a hearing for April 15 after Trump agreed to post a $175 million bond.

A hearing is also scheduled for Monday in the case against the former president for buying the silence of porn actress Stormy Daniels, who claims she had sexual contact with Trump in 2006.

In addition, he pleaded "not guilty" on 34 criminal charges of falsifying documents.

Weiselberg worked for the former president's family for half a century. His written plea agreement did not say whether he would cooperate with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office in the cases against Trump.
