At least three people were injured today in a shooting during the celebrations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr (Ramadan Bayram) in the American city of Philadelphia, the police said, quoted by France Press and BTA.

The police pointed to "two groups" who opened fire in a local park as being responsible for the shooting.

Law enforcement authorities have not found anything at this stage to suggest the shooting may be related to the holiday marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

"We are very lucky today that no more people were shot and that no one was killed," local police chief Kevin Bethel told reporters.

He said around 2:30 p.m. local time, when about 1,000 people had gathered in the park to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, about 30 shots were fired.

"What we do know is that it appears there were two groups in the park that were involved in a shootout," Bethel added.

At least three people were injured, including a 15-year-old teenager who was shot by a policewoman because he was carrying a weapon, Bethel reported. He was hit in the shoulder and leg.

According to the same source, a 22-year-old man was shot in the stomach, possibly during the shooting, and another person went to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his hands.

According to the police, five people, including the 15-year-old teenager, were arrested, and several weapons were found at the scene of the shooting.
