Russian forces attacked Ukraine's two largest cities. Fragments of a rocket fell on a residential building in a suburb of Kiev, and a guided bomb killed one person in Kharkiv, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
More than 28 months after Russia invaded Ukraine, Russian forces continue to carry out regular attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure.
Attacks against Kyiv are less frequent than in other cities, although the capital suffered a series of attacks in March. Kharkiv has come under regular attacks, but military analysts say the frequency has decreased since the United States authorized Ukraine to use American weapons against certain Russian targets.
In the Kyiv suburb of Obolon, the local military administration reported that falling fragments of a Russian missile had caused a fire and damaged the balconies of a 14-story residential building. Emergency services said five residents were treated for stress, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko said 10 residents were evacuated. The authorities published a photo on the Internet showing at least four blackened balconies.
In Kharkiv, a controlled bomb caused a fire and killed a courier service driver in front of a depot. Regional governor Oleg Sinegubov reported that nine people were injured, including an 8-month-old baby. Pictures posted online show the depot and the trucks in front of it badly damaged. The head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration said fragments of rockets also fell outside the capital, causing injuries and damage, although no details were provided.
