The village of Kyolim in the Chelyabinsk region was completely freed from water after a dam wall broke, the press service of Ministry of Emergency Situations.
„In the village of Kyolim, Chelyabinsk region, the water returned to the river bed. The rescuers, using unmanned aircraft, monitored the territory of the village and began to remove the consequences of the erosion of the section of the embankment of the Kiolim reservoir”, the message said.
Due to the heavy rains, the dyke of Kialim Dam broke last night. There were four settlements along the path of the water movement: the village of Kialim, which was flooded, as well as the villages of Muhametovo, Baidashevo and Karasevo. The authorities carried out a preventive evacuation of the population, 163 people, including 21 children, were transported to centers for temporary accommodation in the city of Karabash. A state of emergency has been declared in the district of Karabash.
More than 170 people and 60 pieces of equipment were involved in liquidating the consequences. Governor Alexey Teksler took the situation under control.
