Swiss head of the federal department of foreign affairs, Ignazio Cassis, said today that he had signed a joint declaration with his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, in which he expressed “deep concern” from Russian aggression in Ukraine, but said that Moscow should attend the next peace summit, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

In mid-June, Switzerland welcomed dozens of world leaders to a meeting aimed at finding a path to peace in Ukraine, although Russia was not invited.

„We support the convening of a second summit to be attended by all countries, including Russia”, Cassis wrote in “X”.

Tajani and Cassis called on all parties to spare no effort to “create a common platform for negotiations” which must be based on compliance with the principles of international law enshrined in the UN Charter and the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty of states , DPA reported.

According to the ministers, peace can only be achieved through the participation of all interested parties and dialogue between them.
