The Kremlin still does not know in What is accused of the creator of the social application "Telegram", Pavel Durov, who was arrested by the French police on Saturday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by Reuters. Peskov added that Russia will wait for an official statement from France before making further comments, quoted by BTA.

Russian billionaire Durov was detained when he got off his private plane at Bourges airport near Paris, Reuters reports.

„ We still do not know what exactly Durov is accused of,”, Peskov said at a briefing. “We have not yet heard an official statement on the matter and before drawing any conclusions, we have to wait for the situation to clear up,”, he added.

Durov is still in custody and being questioned by the police, Reuters reported, citing French media.

The billionaire, who also holds French citizenship, was arrested as part of a police investigation into allegedly allowing a wide range of crimes to be committed through his platform due to the lack of moderators on “Telegram” and the lack of cooperation with the police, Reuters reported over the weekend.

The app is based in Dubai and has nearly 1 billion users, being particularly influential in Russia, Ukraine and other former Soviet republics.
