Brazil's top court hears decision to block Ex

The network was shut down in the country, one of the social platform's biggest markets, in the early hours of Saturday

Five-member panel of the Brazilian Supreme Court will sit in connection with the decision of the Supreme Judge Alessandri de Moraes to order the blocking of the social network "X" in Brazil, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

Moraesh, whom the owner of "Ex" Calling Elon Musk a "dictator", he convened a virtual meeting of the first division of the Supreme Court, of which he is a member, so that his colleagues could rule on the decision.

The eleven judges of the Brazilian Supreme Court are divided into two chambers of five judges each, not counting the president of the court. Divisions confirm or reverse decisions made by a single judge.

The "X" network was blocked in Brazil, one of the biggest markets for the social platform, in the early hours of Saturday after Judge Moraes ordered it. Moraes has been in dispute with Elon Musk for months.

"Ex" failed to timely comply with a court order to appoint a legal representative in Brazil as required by Brazilian law. This led to the decision to block the network in Brazil.

Reuters notes that the dispute between Moraes and "X" started earlier in the year when the "X" was ordered to block accounts believed to be spreading misinformation and hate.

Elon Musk said that Moraes is trying to impose unreasonable censorship on "X" and closed the office of "X" in Brazil in August without appointing a new representative.
