And Hungary jumped against the Ukrainian eggs

State Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Zholt Feldman commented on Bulgaria's proposal to stop imports from there until the Common Market is regulated

According to the State Minister of Agriculture and Hungary's rural development Jolt Feldman, guarantees are needed that the unfair import of eggs from Ukraine should be resolved within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the EU and the country, BNR reported.

He said this in response to a question about Bulgaria's proposal to stop importing eggs from there until the Common Market is regulated.

The EU is obliged to protect its producers and we must take their interests into account when we make decisions, said Minister Feldman.

Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Georgi Takhov, stated that over 2.6 million tons of eggs were imported from Ukraine to our country in the first 6 months, which is five times more than in the same period last year, and this is also led to the bankruptcy of many poultry farms.

"In recent months and even years, some member countries have complained about unfair competition and they are increasing," Minister Feldman said.

"We still have autonomous trade safeguards until 2025 and they can be activated for some products," he stressed.

Minister Feldman also announced that there is a Franco-German proposal for aid "de minimis" to be 50 thousand euros and it was supported by 16 member countries. "This means that there is a majority in the Council and the Commission must take it into account. It is now the middle of September and we must act quickly", the Hungarian minister added.
