US President Donald Trump has ruled out the possibility that Washington would ever use military force to join Canada to the United States.

“I don't think we will ever get to that point“, he told NBC News.

“Something could happen with Greenland and I'll be honest, we need it, both for national security and international security, but I think it's very unlikely that a military solution to the Greenland problem. I don't see that happening with Canada at all.“

Trump said that if Canada became part of the United States, it would become a “valuable state”. "When I look at the map without this artificial line that was drawn with a ruler many years ago... You can't even imagine what a wonderful country it could be," he added.

Trump has repeatedly expressed the opinion that many Canadians want their country to become the 51st state of the United States. He believes that such a union would bring economic stability to Canada and protect it from external threats, which Trump says come mainly from Russia and China. Prime Minister Mark Carney has repeatedly stated that his country will never become part of the United States in any form.
