Ukraine does not want a long war with Russia. Moreover, today we have all the tools to end it quickly. This was stated during his visit to Prague by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a joint press conference with Czech President Petr Pavel, UNIAN reports.
Zelensky answered a question from journalists about how he reacted to the statement of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that "reconciliation with Ukraine is inevitable". He stressed that our country will not be left without the support of allies.
"In my opinion, if Ukraine is strong, the war will end as quickly as possible. All the tools are in the hands of the United States and our European colleagues, first of all. Preserving the alliance between America and Europe is the number one task. To force Russia to agree to a full unconditional ceasefire. Moreover, this was a proposal from the United States, and we supported it. This is also a priority task," the Ukrainian president said.
Zelensky added that Ukraine expects to receive 3 million shells by the end of 2025. According to him, the Russians should know this.
"This does not mean that anyone wants a long war, we want it to be ended. And all wars end, in any case, of which I am sure, the war will end, as long dictatorial regimes always end, as the life of any empire ends, which is simply built on the principles of war, on the principles of disrespect for people, for their rights," he emphasized.
Kiev is ready for a ceasefire from May 7 (or any other day), but not for three days, but for 30 days. Zelensky said this a day earlier.
"This is a big theatrical production", Zelensky commented on President Vladimir Putin's idea for a three-day ceasefire.
Russia has enough power and resources to bring the war in Ukraine to its logical end. This was stated by Putin. However, he expressed hope that there would be no need to use nuclear weapons.
Hundreds of thousands of soldiers were killed or wounded, and US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to end the "bloodbath", which his administration presents as a proxy war between the United States and Russia.
For weeks, Trump has been signaling that he is disappointed with the failure of Moscow and Kiev to reach terms for an end to the war. However, the Kremlin has indicated that the conflict is so complex that the rapid progress that Washington wants is difficult.
