Polish Electoral Commission to review completed protocols from presidential elections

The commission will also consider a petition for a recount of votes before sending a report to the Supreme Court

The National Electoral Commission of Poland will review incorrectly completed protocols from the past presidential elections, PAP agency reports, Fokus reports.

Commission member Ryszard Kalisz announced that the meeting will be held on June 9 at 5:00 p.m. local time. In addition to the protocols, a petition in which citizens demand a recount of votes from the presidential elections will also be considered.

After the meeting, the commission will prepare a report that will be submitted to the Supreme Court. The court will make a final decision on whether the election results are valid, Kalisz explained.

The second and decisive round of the elections was held on June 1. According to official figures, the winner was Karol Nawrocki of the Law and Justice (PiS) party with 10,606,877 votes, or 50.89%. His opponent, Rafal Trzaskowski of the Civic Coalition, received 10,237,286 votes, or 49.11%.
