Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel had killed Iran's intelligence chief and his deputy.
“I can tell you that a few minutes ago we also hit the top intelligence officer and his deputy in Tehran. Because now we are in the sky over Tehran, our pilots, our brave pilots are in the sky. We are targeting military sites, nuclear sites“, Netanyahu told Fox News.
He added that Israeli intelligence had received information that Iran was allegedly planning to transfer nuclear weapons to the Houthi movement in Yemen.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a series of strikes on “dozens of targets“ with surface-to-surface missiles in Western Iran, the IDF press service reported.
At the same time, the Iranian Ministry of Health reported the death of at least 128 people as a result of Israeli strikes, about 900 people were injured, the Iranian online publication Etemad reported.
“According to the Ministry of Health, as of noon yesterday, about 128 people were killed in the attacks, the number of injured... is about 900 people, many of whom are ordinary people, civilians“, the publication wrote.
It is noted that among the dead there are 40 women.
Iranian police detained 13 people on Sunday in the province of Golestan, located in the northern part of the Islamic Republic. They supported Israel's strikes on Iran, the Iranian state news agency Tasnim reported, citing the provincial police department.
“Thirteen people were identified and detained in Golestan province for disturbing public order and supporting Israel's strikes on Iran“, the report said.
A day earlier, the agency reported the detention of two more people in Kerman province for allegedly “supporting“ Israel's actions, as well as 16 people for “propaganda activities“ against the authorities. In the latter case, however, the agency did not specify whether they supported Israel's strikes.
