Russia, like the IAEA, does not have and has never had any evidence that Iran is preparing to acquire nuclear weapons, the Russian president said

To resolve the conflict in Ukraine, it is necessary for Kiev to accept neutrality and exclude its possibility of obtaining nuclear weapons.

This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with Sky News Arabia.

He expects the authorities in Kiev to act in the interests of Ukraine, and not in the interests of third parties acting against Russia.

The Russian leader noted that the parties are already close to concluding an agreement in Istanbul in 2022.

„The settlement of the situation in Ukraine must ensure the protection of the interests of the Russian-speaking residents of the country and those who want to develop relations with Russia.

According to him, it is also necessary to resolve humanitarian issues.

„This concerns the Russian language and the legitimate demands of the people of Ukraine who want to develop and strengthen relations with Russia,“ the president said.

To resolve the conflict, Ukraine must recognize the results of the referendums in Donbas and Novorossiya, the Russian president said.

"Ukraine must recognize the results of the referendums held in the four known region. It is necessary to recognize Ukraine's interest in maintaining long-term friendly relations with Russia", said the head of state of the Russian state.

Putin confirmed the need for denazification of Ukraine.

“It is necessary to eliminate the Nazi character of Ukraine and the Nazi elements in the Ukrainian leadership“, said the Russian leader, whose words were translated into Arabic.

The adoption of a fatwa in Iran prohibiting the country from developing nuclear weapons is of great importance, Putin said.

He noted that Iran is an Islamic state with its own rules. “Let me remind you that Iran adopted a fatwa prohibiting it from having nuclear weapons. And this is of great importance," the Russian leader said.

The IAEA has no evidence of Iran's attempts to create nuclear weapons, he said.

"Iran has repeatedly stated that it does not seek to create nuclear weapons. The IAEA also has no signs of creating nuclear weapons or evidence of this," the Russian leader said.

"If Israel has any concerns, then they should be addressed. And in my opinion, there are forms and possibilities to address these concerns," he added.

“Russia, like the IAEA, does not have and has never had any evidence that Iran is preparing to acquire nuclear weapons“, Putin said, noting that this had been communicated to the Israeli leadership.

Russia remains committed to its position on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“The position of the Russian Federation is that we are against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction at the expense of any country in the world, including Iran“, the Russian leader said.

He also stressed that Iran has repeatedly stated that it has no plans to create nuclear weapons.

“Iran has the right to programs for the use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes,“ the Russian head of state said. According to him, Russia is ready to provide Iran, "as in previous years, the necessary assistance and support" in the development of peaceful nuclear energy.

"There are details that, in my opinion, can and should be agreed upon", Putin added, noting that both Iran and Israel should participate in the negotiation process to resolve the crisis surrounding the Iranian nuclear program.
