Russia has transferred to North Korea (DPRK) technologies for the production of attack drones of the "Shahed" type. This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, quoted by Censor.NET, reports Focus.
“This ‘Shahed’ is like some kind of nomad. He moved from Iran to the Russian Federation, and now from Russia he has come to the DPRK... They act quickly, believe me, unfortunately. They are transferring not drones, but technologies, equipment and everything necessary to create their own production there“, Budanov pointed out.
According to him, Russian technologies are already in the hands of North Korean military, and Pyongyang begins local production of strike drones.
The head of Ukrainian intelligence warned that this will lead to a deterioration in security on the Korean Peninsula:
„The DPRK is currently significantly increasing its military power - primarily through direct cooperation with the Russian Federation and through the accumulation of real combat experience by its soldiers. And this cannot but affect the situation, because for the DPRK there is only one real enemy - South Korea. And they know it very well“, he said.
In addition to drones, according to Budanov, Russia has also delivered „Pantsir-S1“ anti-aircraft missile systems to North Korea, and has already begun training Korean military personnel to use them.
„The first installations "‘Pantsir-S1’ are already in Pyongyang and are on combat duty, guarding the capital. Russian instructors are training Korean personnel, but soon they will be able to handle the equipment autonomously," the GRU chief added.
