Tehran sees no problem in resuming negotiations with Washington and believes it is necessary to "put behind it" the crisis that arose after the attacks by Israel and the US and figure out how to trust the US, said the President of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Pezeshkian, reported Times of Israel, Focus writes.

"We see no problem in resuming negotiations (with the US - ed.), but first I must remind you that because of Israel's atrocities, not only against my country, but also in the entire Middle East region, we are now facing a crisis (after the attacks by Israel and the US - ed.). A crisis that we must leave behind,” he said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

However, the Iranian president also expressed reservations during the interview about the possibility of restoring trust in the honesty of the negotiations with the United States.

"How can we trust the United States again? We have returned to negotiations, but how will we know for sure that during the negotiations the Israeli regime will not be allowed to attack us again?“ Pezeshkian added.

We recall that on the night of June 13, Israel launched an operation against Iran, accusing it of carrying out a secret military nuclear program. The targets of the air strikes and attacks by sabotage groups were nuclear facilities, generals, prominent nuclear physicists and air bases.

Iran denied the accusations and responded with its own attacks. The two sides traded blows for 12 days, with the United States joining in, carrying out a one-off attack on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities on the night of June 22. Tehran then launched missile strikes on the US Al Udeid base in Qatar on the evening of June 23, saying that the Iranian side had no intention of escalating further.

At the time, US President Donald Trump expressed hope that the attack on the US military base in Qatar had “let off steam“ and that the path to peace and harmony in the Middle East was now possible. He also said that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, which should become “the official end of the 12-day war“ after 24 hours.
