German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful expressed serious concerns on Monday about a new Ukrainian law that limits the independence of anti-corruption agencies in favor of tighter control by the executive branch. According to him, this could hinder Ukraine's accession process to the European Union, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

“Limiting the independence of Ukraine's anti-corruption agency hinders Ukraine on its path to the EU“, Wadeful wrote on the social network “Ex“ (formerly Twitter).

The minister stressed that he expected Ukraine to continue its reforms and commitment to fighting corruption. He also announced that he had held meetings in Kiev with the heads of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP).
