Yemeni Houthi rebels announced today that they fired a missile at an “Israeli oil tanker“ in the Red Sea, which, however, was not hit, according to a maritime security agency, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reports.
“Our naval forces conducted a military operation against the Israeli oil tanker “Scarlet Ray“ (Scarlet Ray - ed. note) in the northern Red Sea using a ballistic missile“, said the military spokesman for the Houthi group, Yahya Sariya.
The British Maritime Trade Operations Organization (UKMTO) reported last night that the attack took place 40 nautical miles southwest of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
“The captain reported that he observed a strike in the immediate vicinity of his ship, caused by an unknown object, accompanied by a loud explosion“, the agency said, specifying that the crew was “unharmed“ and the ship continued on its way.
According to the British maritime security company “Ambri“, it is a Liberian-flagged ship owned by Israel.
