Kim Jong-un: It is our fraternal duty to support Moscow in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity

North Korean leader talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in China

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Pyongyang will support Moscow in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Korean Central News Agency reported.

The meeting was held on September 3 on the sidelines of celebrations in China. “Comrade Kim Jong-un said that the DPRK will continue to fully support the struggle of the government, army and people of Russia to defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security interests of the state, considers this a fraternal duty and remains steadfastly committed to the implementation of the interstate treaty between the DPRK and the Russian Federation“, the agency reported.

The chairman of the DPRK State Council earlier said that Pyongyang considers Moscow's assistance a fraternal duty. "If there is something we can do to help Russia, we will definitely do it, we will consider it a fraternal duty and we will do everything for this," he noted.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between the Russian Federation and the DPRK, which has been in force since 2024, includes mutual defense. DPRK soldiers participated in the liberation of certain areas of the Kursk region from the Ukrainian forces that invaded them.
