The tests of the new armored vehicle VPK-Ural have been completed. Now only a few formalities remain for it to be put into operation, the company says. “The vehicle has confirmed all declared tactical and technical characteristics and for delivery to the troops of the Russian Guard”, announced the manufacturer of the new product.
This combat modification of the Ural-53099 vehicle was developed taking into account the needs of the army of the special military operation in Ukraine and, according to the Russians, fully corresponds to the characteristics of modern combat.
To increase the protection of the armored vehicle, the developers abandoned the frame and equipped the vehicle with a special monocoque body - an armored capsule. All components and assemblies of the armored car are attached to this durable structure.
As a result, the weight of the VPK-Ural armored car is 14,500 kilograms. The car is equipped with a YAMZ-536 engine with a volume of 6.6 liters and a power of 360 horsepower - almost 25 hp. per 1 ton, which according to Russian specialists is an excellent indicator.
This unit makes the heavy vehicle dynamic, maneuverable and passable. On the VPK-Ural highway, it can reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour. No other characteristics of the new armored car are reported, except that special attention is paid to anti-mine protection, and the ground clearance of the armored car reaches 40 cm.
