BMW is about to reignite the wagon segment with the long-awaited M5 Touring. The model, which will debut on August 15 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, will combine the practicality of a wagon with the exciting performance expected of an M car.
Under the hood, expect a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain that is mirrored in the M5 Sedan and includes a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and an electric motor, the total output of which is 717 horsepower. However, the additional weight of the wagon body style may slightly affect acceleration compared to its sibling.
The M5 Touring will boast a distinctive design, including subtle styling elements that set it apart from the standard 5 Series. While specific details are scarce, leaked images suggest a sporty and elegant aesthetic.
With production set to begin in November, the M5 Touring is set to become a desirable addition to BMW's high-performance lineup.
