Indonesia expects to earn an additional 6 trillion Indonesian rupiah (approximately $360 million) after imposing a duty on gold exports. This was reported by the Antara news agency, citing Finance Minister Purbaya Yudi Sadew.

“We can impose a duty on exports if the selling price is high. In the case of gold, it must be imposed because its price is very high“, said Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia. The publication states that the Ministry of Finance is preparing a resolution to introduce duties on the export of the precious metal.

Finance Ministry spokesman Febrio Kakaribu noted that the duties on gold will range from 7.5% to 15%, depending on world prices. This decision is also aimed at stimulating domestic processing. Kakaribu specified that the duties will apply to various types of gold, including gold-silver alloy Dore, granules, cast and measured gold bars. The government notes that world gold prices reached 4,000 USD per troy ounce in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Antara points out that Indonesia's budget is also expected to be replenished by introducing export duties on coal and other minerals.
