Foreign businesses remaining in Russia rated their prospects more stable than in the last two years, reported the director general of the European Business Association Tadzio Schilling during a speech at the Russian Pharmaceutical Forum.
"Today, many foreign companies continue to operate in Russia. We want to know how they feel, so we survey our members every year. According to preliminary data, foreign business now assesses prospects in Russia more stable than in the previous two years,”, he said.
Foreign companies believe that the Russian market has largely remained open to them, Schilling noted. “Secondly, it suggests that they have learned the new rules of the game and are successfully adapting to them. And we, as the Association of European Business, have supported them in this process and will continue to support them in every way. Because sooner or later today's crisis will end and we are sure that it will be better if we don't have to start from scratch, he explained.
The CEO of AEB recalled that there are currently areas where there are still no restrictions on both sides and where European companies can operate. For example, pharmaceutical companies are attached to Russian patients and partners and do not want to lose those ties that have been developed over many years. According to him, foreign companies also cannot fail to notice economic development, which for the second year in a row significantly exceeds forecasts.
„Third, business sees that from the very top there is still openness to foreign investors. The president has spoken several times about Russia remaining open. And the head of the government, Mikhail Mishustin, the other day reminded again that no one will close the doors to foreign business. Business sees all of this. These signals are taken into account, and in this way, even against the background of the difficulties that are certainly there, the Russian market does not lose its prospects, he added.
