TOP 10 best airlines in the world - 1

Comfortable seats, delicious food and helpful staff on board. For some passengers, this is the most important thing, and according to these requirements, they also choose the airline they will fly with. Which airlines enjoy a high reputation among passengers?

The British consulting company Skytrax annually presents the “World Airline Awards” since 1999. For this purpose, it evaluated and ranked over 325 airlines from all over the world.

The ranking is based on customer surveys that were conducted from September 2022 to May 2023. Passengers from over 100 different countries rated their favorite airline. The comfort on board, the quality of the food or the service of the flight attendants are some of the many criteria on which customers could judge.

In 2023, Asian and Middle Eastern airlines again dominated the TOP 5 ranking. There is not a single European airline in it.

5. Japan Airlines (Japan)

The Japanese airline, which is in fifth position in the ranking, emphasizes its commitment to the highest standards of flight safety and quality of services for its passengers. With four major hubs in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Okinawa, the Tokyo-based airline, together with its sharing partners, serves over 200 destinations in over 60 countries.

4. Emirates (United Arab Emirates)

The national airline of the United Arab Emirates took third place last year, but will drop another position in 2023. According to Emirates, the airline currently has a fleet of 260 aircraft flying to 143 destinations. The most important center is in Dubai, where the headquarters of the airline is also located. In the pandemic year 2020, Emirates was the world's largest international airline, carrying 15.8 million passengers, according to IATA World Air Transport Statistics 2021. According to its own information, the airline carried more than 50 million passengers on board last year.

3. ANA All Nippon Airways (Japan)

Another Japanese airline is represented in the top five: All Nippon Airways secured third place, improving its position by one place compared to the previous year. The largest Japanese airline offers the so-called A “dual hub model” that allows passengers to connect to various destinations in Japan through the two main airports in the Tokyo metropolitan area – Narita and Haneda.

2. Qatar Airways (Qatar)

The airline has already won the “World Airline Awards” seven times. In 2023, however, Qatar Airways will only be in second place in the ranking. According to Skytrax, customers particularly praised the comfort, fine cuisine, service and audio and video entertainment on board. Qatar Airways also scored points with a modern aircraft fleet that is only about five years old on average.

1. Singapore Airlines (Singapore)

Singapore Airlines secured first place. In the 23-year history of the awards, this is the fifth time the airline has won the title. According to Skytrax, Singapore Airlines' success is largely due to its focus on customers. Passengers especially appreciate the wide selection of meals and the wide range of entertainment on board.

"The award is a testament to the employees' commitment," said Goh Chun Fong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, and thanked customers for their continued loyalty.
