The National Bank of Ukraine again raised the dollar-hryvnia exchange rate to an all-time high. The relevant data are published on the website of the regulator.
The official exchange rate as of May 30 is set at 40.4832 hryvnias for 1 USD (+0.0874 hryvnias). The previous maximum was registered on May 29 - 40.3958 hryvnias. The dollar crossed the 40 hryvnia mark.
The dollar has been appreciating for more than a week, and during that time it has grown by 1.08 hryvnias (from 39.4272 on May 20).
From February 24, 2022, the National Bank fixed the exchange rate at 29.25 hryvnias for 1 USD. The regulator took unprecedented steps to preserve it, but from July 21, 2022, the hryvnia was to be devalued by 25%. On October 3, 2023, the National Bank announced the introduction of a managed flexible exchange rate, explaining that it would continue to control exchange rates, preventing too much fluctuation of the hryvnia, and promised to minimize the difference between the cash and official rates. However, on December 13, 2023, for the first time in history, the official dollar exchange rate exceeded 37 hryvnias.
