According to the timetable of the bus station in the resort town of Kavarna, there are practically no buses to the regional center of Dobrich during the weekend. For Maria Zhelyazkova, traveling by bus is a pain in the ass. A Nova TV team sent the woman to the bus station in Dobrich at noon and found her hours later in Kavarna. This is the case with everyone who does not have a car in the region and relies on public transport.
"There is an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. Until a few years ago, there were more travelers and the vans were more frequent," claims Yulian Georgiev, a carrier.
The reasons for the reduced lines are complex. "The main reason for the decrease in the number of fellow carriers willing to run lines to the sea, and not only to the sea, but also to many populated areas, is economic," says Valentin Vasilev, a representative of the transport branch for the Dobrich region.
Investments and demands on the sector multiply annually. Like this 35% of the intercity courses are with buses for the disabled. And the calculation is simple: fewer tickets sold, fewer flights. Not a single company participates in the competitions that the Kavarna municipality has held in the last 3 years.
