The income of some Parisian restaurants located in security zones near the Olympic sites in Paris , have fallen by 60% due to the introduction of special passes. This was stated by the head of the Union of Hoteliers of France Thierry Marx on the television channel BFMTV .
„Security measures and street closures have affected the business of our hoteliers and restaurateurs. In some areas, the reduction in income is up to 60%.“ Marks said that due to the blocking of streets and the introduction of special passes at some restaurants, “table reservations are being cancelled”.
According to Marks, representatives of the tourism industry intend to seek compensation for lost revenue.
The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics will be held outside the stadium for the first time; athletes will board boats during the team parade and sail through the center of Paris on the Seine. From July 18, a regime of special passes has been introduced in the capital, which must be obtained for movement in various security zones.
