The introduction of restrictions for Russian citizens holding Bank of Georgia cards for purchases worth over 300 EUR is related to the financial institution's obligation to comply with international sanctions, the press service of the Bank of Georgia reported.
“The Bank of Georgia has complied and continues to comply with the requirements of the sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom“, the bank's press service said, quoted by TASS.
One of the largest commercial banks in Georgia - Bank of Georgia, has introduced restrictions from May 21 for Russian citizens who are clients of the bank for paying for luxury goods worth over 300 EUR or 300 USD or 300 British pounds in luxury stores around the world. As the publication specified, the restriction is related to EU sanctions against Russia, introduced in 2022, which prohibit the supply of cars and luxury goods worth over EUR 300 to the Russian Federation.
