Labels in stores must now show two prices - in leva and in euro. In addition to price control, the new rules also provide for items with discounts for people, as well as additional requirements for merchants and consumers.

In the studio of "The Day Starts on Sunday" Bogomil Nikolov from the "Active Consumers" Association said that in the first days of the introduction there were more signals of deception, but now they are decreasing:

"The higher value on the label is in leva. The other is in euro and serves as a reminder. The law requires that the font of leva and euro be the same as the numbers.

The expert warned that the biggest risks will be outside the stores – for example, strangers offering to exchange levs for euros on the street, often with counterfeit banknotes:

"It is best for people to start paying in euros from January 1. This way they will avoid mistakes when returning change."

In stores, according to him, possible fraud will be mostly related to incorrect calculations when returning money.

Nikolov believes that a shock increase in prices is not expected:

"The main factor for price increases is uncertainty. I hope that with the introduction of the new rules, the tension among traders will decrease."

Bogomil Nikolov also commented on the case of the boy in a wheelchair who was taken off a low-cost airline flight at the capital's airport.

"The problem is not with the boy, but with the wheelchair's battery. Some of these batteries can catch fire in the air. There needs to be a clear list of permitted and prohibited batteries, available on the websites of airlines and airports," he explained.

Nikolov added that in this particular case the pilot could have taken out insurance, but the lack of information creates a risk of similar situations in the future.
