We are working for a higher supplement to the pension of a deceased spouse – from 30% to 35%, said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons. In an address published on the Facebook page of the Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister recalls that all pensions have been increased by 8.6%, explains dariknews.bg

"We are resolutely fighting illegal homes and investing in modern care. We are creating 254 new social and health-social services, renovating all state-funded homes for the elderly, and within a year the conditions will be completely renovated," Zhelyazkov added.

The Prime Minister added that today we pay tribute to the people who, with their work and wisdom, built Bulgaria as we know it.

"Our duty is to provide decent incomes, quality care and deserved respect. It is our duty to pass on this example to the next generations and to ensure that the bridge between youth and experience remains strong and unshakable. Because it is continuity that drives a nation forward," the Prime Minister added.

Later today, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov will celebrate the Day of the Elderly together with the residents of the “Nadezhda“ Home for the Elderly in Sofia, where 75 people are currently accommodated.
