This was said by President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Rumen Radev in his greeting to the cadets of the Class of 2025 “Slivnish-Dragomansky“ – specialization “Medical Support of the Armed Forces“ of the Higher Naval School “N. Y. Vaptsarov“, who were produced in the first officer rank – “lieutenant“ today at the Military Medical Academy, BTA reports.
„When we talk about strategic initiatives, about our development as a modern state with the ambition to defend its national security, we must invariably mention the decision made eight years ago by the leadership of the Military Medical Academy, the Higher Naval School and the Medical University – Varna for the creation of your specialty, and at a time when no one in Europe expected that a full-scale war would rage on our continent, thousands of people would die and there would be an acute hunger for military medics,“ said Radev.
He noted that thanks to this foresight, today there are reliable young recruits who guarantee growing capabilities in military medical provision.
Rumen Radev also emphasized innovative training and education, as well as the built modern, scientific, educational and social infrastructure.
“You have taken two oaths – that of a defender of the homeland and the Hippocratic oath, pledging to the highest humane values, but today you assume double responsibility – that of the Bulgarian officer and the military doctor, a responsibility that from now on will be measured every day with the health and lives of the servicemen and your devotion to the homeland“, the president addressed the cadets.
