"You probably remember that for the last 4 and a half years I have been lighting the biggest "red light", which is becoming more and more intense. Other people gradually thought of joining in. In the last week - both the International Monetary Fund and the governor of the BNB. We are becoming more and more. There is no one who can argue the opposite. We all know that the situation in the budget is dark red".
This was said on bTV by Nikolay Vassilev - economist, former investment banker and Minister of Economy.
He recalled that the Videnov government is the most unsuccessful government of the Bulgarian transition – a symbol of the great catastrophe and the great failure.
"It has been in power for two years. In the first year of their government, when things started to get worse, their deficit was 3.9% of GDP. With this government, we are heading towards 8% - is the light dark red, is it flashing, what can we say?, the economist asked.
In his words, the deficit is going to 15 billion or more.
Nikolai Vassilev also pointed out the "accounting tricks" of the cabinet - the increase in the capital of state-owned companies and 500 million leva advance tax from banks for next year.
As a "big red light" he identified the Bulgarian Development Bank, into which the government has poured 4 billion leva in capital - "a colossal sum for a bank".
"They are passed as capitalization of a company, not as state expenditure", the economist pointed out.
"This is money that will not be used for the development of any banking activity, but pure budget expenditure", he noted.
In his words, the main goal of the Bulgarian Development Bank was to finance several oligarchic groups and play the role of a second state budget.
"This is not a development bank, but money that politicians have under the table, with which to do whatever they want," commented Nikolay Vassilev.
"Even with these tricks, we are still in a bad situation. We took part of the revenues for next year, which we will not receive then. "What will the budget be next year?" he asked.
