Prof. Alexander Tomov, chairman of the "Euroleft" party, which is part of the BSP-United Left coalition, said on BNT that the 2026 budget will be a stabilization budget, sharply criticizing previous budgets, quoted by novini.bg.
„After several failed years, with many violations in the expenditure side, we are currently striving for a stable budget. We need new legislation on investments and this is one of the things we will insist on with our partners“, explained Tomov.
He stressed that there are many things that need to be changed in our first draft budget in euros and that reforms should be undertaken to increase revenue for the tax.
For his part, former MP from “Democratic Bulgaria“ Vladislav Panev believes that Budget 2026 will not be right-wing and added that he expects either a tax increase or the deficit to be controlled by taking on new debts.
“Additional revenues are being sought through tax increases in order to catch up with expenses that are truly galloping and not from today or yesterday“, commented Panev.
