For „Lukoil“ we wanted a national plan, not chaotic actions. This was stated in „Face to Face“ the MP from „We continue the change -ndash; Democratic Bulgaria“ Martin Dimitrov regarding the changes in the legislation related to the assets of the Russian company in our country and the appointment of Rumen Spetsov as a special manager of the company in our country.
According to him, the government is working piecemeal.
„The fact that after this derogation they will want another one shows that they do not have a plan, this is not serious. There should have been a check of the reserves. Regarding Spetsov, the law itself provides for a person with experience in the oil sector, we have no information that he has one. This would be very important if it comes to negotiating fuel supplies“, commented Dimitrov.
According to him, there was time to hold a competition for the position, after consultations with the European Commission on the issue. Dimitrov added that it was the DB that introduced the figure of the special manager into Bulgarian legislation in 2023.
“Then we envisaged up to three participants in the team, now they have changed the law and it speaks in the singular. I think our model was more successful, this team could have had at least one person who deals with oil and one recommended by the EC“, he added.
Budget 2026 – criticisms
„I have never seen such a left-wing budget. I am very concerned about the consequences. For more than 20 years there has not been an expenditure to GDP of 46% - this is an explosion of expenditure. There has not been such an increase in the tax burden for 20 years - they are doubling the dividend tax, 2 percentage points increase in pension insurance, record growth in the maximum social security income. The debt will exceed 30%“, commented Dimitrov.
The MP pointed out that this budget policy could lead to Romanian or Greek scenarios - entering a debt spiral and increasing taxes.
„They must immediately abandon the tax increases. We have offered them 30 right-wing measures with specific bills. How to limit bonuses in the state sector – not to exceed the amount of one monthly salary, a ceiling“, he also indicated.
According to him, the government should stop with “elementary justifications“ and start with reforms aimed at reducing costs, because they are currently spending like “a maniac with a machine gun“.
