Growth in prices of most fruits and vegetables on the stock exchanges in our country this week, reports the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT), BTA reported
The market price index (IPC), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in Bulgaria, rose by 1.04 percent to 2.338 points compared to 2.314 points a week earlier. The base level of the index (1,000 points) is from 2005.
Among vegetables, the most drastic increase in price was for tomatoes - by 17.13 percent to 2.94 leva per kilogram, and cucumbers - by 17.07 percent to 3.80 leva per kilogram. Cabbage is also significantly more expensive - by 7.66 percent to 0.90 leva per kilogram, green peppers - by 7.59 percent to 2.24 leva per kilogram, and red peppers - by 6.1 percent to 2.40 leva per kilogram. The price of carrots is also up, trading at 1.14 leva per kilogram or 4.01 percent more than last week.
Mature onions are cheaper - by 2.78 percent to 0.91 leva per kilogram only. A minimal drop is observed in the prices of zucchini – by 0.33 percent down to 2.45 leva per kilogram, and of potatoes - by 0.21 percent down to 0.97 leva per kilogram.
In terms of fruit, a price decrease this week is only reported for apples, which are down by 2.07 percent to 2.08 leva per kilogram. Bananas are the most expensive - by 3.09 percent to 2.80 leva per kilogram. The price of grapes is up by 1.99 percent to 3.08 leva per kilogram, of oranges - by 0.93 percent to 2.40 leva per kilogram, and of lemons - by 0.6 percent to 3.35 leva per kilogram.
The price of cow's cheese falls by 0.54 percent to 11.88 leva per kilogram, and that of "Vitosha" type yellow cheese rises minimally by 0.01 percent to 18.19 leva per kilogram. Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) retains its price from last week and is sold at 1.38 leva per 400 g bucket, while fresh milk is down 2.31 percent to 2.28 leva per liter. The price of butter (125 gram package) is lower and is traded at 3.03 leva per piece, which is a 3.01 percent decrease.
Frozen chicken meat is up 0.32 percent to 6.80 leva per kilogram, and eggs (size M) - up 3.86 percent to 0.43 leva per piece wholesale.
The price of rice is down 1.31 percent to 3.32 leva per kilogram, and that of type 500 flour - down 5.12 percent to 1.52 leva per kilogram. Oil is cheaper this week, selling at 3.22 leva per liter, or down 1.23 percent. Sugar is up 1.75 percent to 1.86 leva per kilogram. The prices of ripe beans and lentils are also higher, by 3.35 percent to 4.38 leva per kilogram and by 1.06 percent to 4.20 leva per kilogram, respectively.
