The ruling party has invented a new genre - a protest in support of the government. At the time, we called it a "demonstration". But it cannot hide the obvious, which is that the dissatisfaction is massive. This was what President Rumen Radev told journalists in connection with the demonstrations organized by the DPS-New Beginning this evening in support of the government.
Bulgarians are outraged by the arrogance and hubris, by the provocations that the oligarchs are arranging to discredit the protest of free people. Currently, the services and specialized structures of the Ministry of Interior are busy and are being harnessed by these same oligarchs against their political opponents. I warn that this is a gross abuse of power and responsibility will be sought for it. I also call on law enforcement officers not to tarnish the honor of their epaulettes and not to sacrifice their professional future for the sake of people who will abandon them tomorrow and flee on their private planes, Radev said.
These same oligarchs who stand at the top and consume all the power, on top of everything, they organize and make attempts at ethnic division. Bulgaria is not their fatherland, Bulgaria belongs to all Bulgarians - young and old, and the square is not a place for division, but for unity. Whoever divides Bulgarians by ethnicity or generations works for their party interests, not for Bulgaria. I call on us, when we protest, to abide by the law and not to forget the most important thing, what we have gathered for - the belief that a Bulgaria of law is possible and together we are stronger than the mafia, the president also said, the head of state added.
He also commented on the second version of the draft state budget for next year prepared by the ruling party.
The new draft budget for 2026 is of the postponed fraud. I said about the first version that this is a budget of fraud. Now I can say that it is a budget of the postponed fraud, because all this burden on business and citizens has been postponed and will happen again – from next year, 2027. What worries people and one of the reasons they are in the square is that no matter how the figures in the budget look, while they are in the hands of these same oligarchs, Bulgarians do not believe that this budget will be spent in their interest, Rumen Radev emphasized.
Asked if he is ready to come up with his own political project from the presidential institution, Radev replied: "I will do it when you least expect it".
