While everyone is waiting for answers on the "Petrohan" case, new revelations raise additional questions about the role of the services and institutions.

In the program "120 minutes" on bTV, lawyer Tatyana Doncheva commented on the topic, analyzing the document published by BYRD, presented as a SANS reference from 2024.

At the moment, there is no official position of SANS that would deny the authenticity of the document.

Doncheva recalled the official information distributed by the Ministry of Interior and the prosecutor's office regarding the deaths of the six people near Petrohan and Okolchitsa: “We assume that the Ministry of Interior correctly accepted, worked, and proved that the deaths of the first three were suicides, ritualistic, sectarian motivated, and the other three - two murders and one suicide of Ivaylo Kalushev, who committed the murders.“

According to Doncheva, it is clear from the content of the SANS report that the group around Ivaylo Kalushev was an object of interest years before the tragedy.

According to her, two different groups worked at SANS: “One group made this report - a collection of work on the group… Let's call them the good guys from SANS who notified the prosecutor's office.“

According to her, a second line of work also existed in the Directorate for the Prevention and Control of Sexual Assault, where data was collected on signals of sexual assault.

Doncheva described the movement of the report in the prosecutor's office as “quite strange“: “This rich factual material, addressed directly to the Supreme Council of the Communist Party of Bulgaria, meant that wherever this material comes across, it must be looked at extremely thoroughly and carefully. I would say that a personal commitment from the Prosecutor General or the acting Prosecutor General is needed.“

Instead, the materials were forwarded sequentially to the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, and then to the Sofia Region.

“You have reached the top of the state, you have engaged the institutions with the greatest resources… and you have boasted that the closure of the Godech Police Station could have changed something. Nothing could have changed“, Doncheva commented on the accusations of Kalin Stoyanov, former director of the Directorate of the State Police, and currently an MP from “DPS - New Beginning“.

Doncheva also commented on the hypothesis of the possible presence of a SANS agent in the group.

“The answer (to the chairman of the State Security Agency Denyo Denovo – ed. note) “I cannot answer you in an open session“ for me it means to have.“

She stated that from her experience in committees for control of the special services she sees “two potential agents“, emphasizing family ties with the former State Security (Ivaylo Ivano and Ivaylo Kalushev – ed. note). According to her, parts of the State Security Agency have used the structure around Kalushev for some events and purposes.

“The fact that the RPU – Montana gave this Ivey (Ivaylo Ivanov) 16 weapons in one day suggests that he has shown cooperation that cannot be ignored“, Doncheva added.

According to her, the actions of the Ministry of Environment are particularly disturbing and waters and a signed agreement with a non-governmental organization.

“If you are so sure that this does not produce anything, why do you sign it? You are a minister“, she announced about the document signed by Borislav Sandov in his capacity as Minister of the Environment.

She raised the question of the way in which people are appointed to high-ranking state positions: “People who do not understand what they will be responsible for cannot be admitted to key state positions.“

According to Tatyana Doncheva, the “Petrohan“ case is not limited to establishing the cause of the death of the six people. In her words, society must receive answers not only about the specific tragic case, but also about the institutional shortcomings that allowed the development of events.
