The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has opened two investigations against the acting Minister of Interior Emil Dechev - for the case “Petrohan-Okolchitsa“ and for exerting pressure on the bodies of the Ministry of Interior, bTV reported.
The day before, Dechev demanded that the government propose to the president the dismissal of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Miroslav Rashkov, and announced that he intends to dismiss his deputy - Yavor Serafimov.
One investigation against the acting Minister Emil Dechev began yesterday, at the signal of the party “Ima takvi narod“ to the prosecutor's office for violations in the case “Petrohan-Okolchitsa“.
“A report on this occasion was received by e-mail. As far as I know, there is a report from the ITN and an investigation has been assigned to it. It has been decided that there are grounds to verify the information submitted in the report“, said Desislava Petrova, Deputy Chairman of the Prosecutors' Association, on the program “This Morning“.
The second investigation by the prosecutor's office is about institutional pressure. The report was submitted by two high-ranking representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Deputy Secretary General Yavor Serafimov said that he was one of those who submitted the report against the acting minister. He refuses to stand in front of the camera because he is in the hospital.
“The minister should know about my condition from human resources. We have only seen each other once for a few minutes. I will seek my rights by any means necessary, because the minister's statement yesterday that he is declaring me wanted is a loss of prestige," he announced.
Two high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Interior have reported pressure exerted by Minister Dechev on the "Petrohan-Okolchitsa" case.
In front of the national radio, Minister of Interior Emil Dechev said that he had met with a police officer familiar with the Petrohan investigation, but had not exerted any influence on anyone. He himself was informed that an investigation had been initiated against him by the Directorate of the Investigation and Prevention of Corruption.
„Yesterday evening I was informed by the Directorate of the Investigation and Prevention of Corruption that the prosecutor's office had ordered a preliminary investigation against me. It is true that I have met with a colleague who works on the "Petrohan" case. The only reason is to get acquainted with this case as quickly as possible. We had a coffee, then we parted ways“, Emil Dechev told BNR.
Interior Minister Dechev also says that the prosecution is going against him in a “panic attack“:
“After Mr. Sarafov stopped being the acting prosecutor general at the end of July, he took on the role of an acting film critic, a fan of the film “Twin Peaks“. This horror movie script will not scare me. There is no going back“.
The minister has already asked the government to propose to the president a replacement for the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Miroslav Rashkov.
And as of today, Georgi Kandov has been appointed acting Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior.
