The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Nadezhda Neynski spoke by phone with the Foreign Minister of the State of Israel Gideon Saar, the Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi.

She also took part in an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union member states, which took place online, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced.

The talks discussed the current situation regarding the conflict in Iran and the situation in the Middle East region.

In the context of the security of Bulgarian citizens, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar assured our first diplomat that the Israeli government is ready to assist, if necessary, in the return to Bulgaria of Bulgarian citizens residing for a short period.

During the talks, our first diplomat expressed full solidarity with Kuwait and the Kuwaiti people in connection with the Iranian attacks on targets in the country, which constitute a gross violation of Kuwait's sovereignty. For his part, Minister Al-Sabah declared full commitment to the security of Bulgarian citizens located on the territory of the country, as well as his readiness for possible assistance in the event of an escalation of tension.

In his conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Jordan Ayman Safadi, Minister Neynsky expressed solidarity with the Jordanian side in the current critical period for the region. The two united around the understanding that Iran should cease attacks on neighboring countries and work to de-escalate tensions. Emphasis was also placed on the need for the current crisis not to divert attention from the situation in Gaza and the implementation of the second phase of the Comprehensive Plan for Ending the Conflict in Gaza, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
