Maria Maya Aldin on "Petrohan": The moral damage to the victims is unprecedented - 1

The moral damage inflicted on the victims is a precedent that we have not seen in other European countries. This was told to the Bulgarian National Radio by Maria Maya Aldin, who lives in Germany but supports the relatives of those who died in the "Petrohan" hut and near Okolchitsa in their search for the truth about what happened to them.

She has created an event on Facebook promoting the protest "Show the facts!" Protest for transparency and justice", announced by Ralitsa Asenova, mother of 22-year-old Nikolay Zlatkov, who is one of the victims.

In her words, this tragedy and what happened after it affects the entire society:

"It affects all of us, the entire society! It does not only affect the murdered and their relatives! I am not in Bulgaria and cannot physically attend the protest, but I have a moral obligation to support the victims and their suffering parents and loved ones. Everyone can do something about this. The question is whether people will unite and stand under one flag".

She recalled that dignity is a basic human right:

"Where is the dignity of the victims here? Where is the dignity of their loved ones and relatives? Where is the dignity of Bulgarian society? Human dignity is inviolable and it is the duty of all state authorities to protect it. This is the highest good and the basis of the legal order. This is missing!", Aldin commented.

If this protest succeeds and the facts and truth about this tragedy are established, it will be a victory for everyone, for the entire society, believes Maria Maya Aldin.

According to her, there is an erosion in the public's trust in institutions:

"People do not believe and will not believe the investigation until what happened is publicly clarified".
