A report of an attempt to buy votes was received by the police in Kyustendil on Friday, April 17, by a resident of the city. According to the sender, an acquaintance of his offered him 50 euros to vote in favor of a certain political force.
The offer was made over the phone, with the man having to send a photo of his ID card, and the amount would be paid after election day.
The police officers have identified the 55-year-old man, suspected of offering a benefit in order to persuade him to vote in a certain way.
During the procedural and investigative actions carried out, no cash was found in his property. When checking his mobile phone, three photos of ID cards were found.
The man was detained with a police detention order for a period of 24 hours, the directorate's spokeswoman Katya Tabachka told BTA.
A police investigation has been opened and the prosecutor's office has been notified.
