New problem for 2 in 1 vote: CEC runs out of flash memory for machines - 1

New problem for 2 in 1 vote: CEC runs out of flash memory for machines. CEC may need to purchase additional flash drives. This is what BNR warns about.

The Sofia City Administrative Court refuses to return to the CEC the flash drives from the voting machines used in the local elections in Sofia City last October.

The reason is the case for the elections in Sofia following a complaint by Vanya Grigorova, who finished second in the mayoral election runoff, BNR reports.

However, the CEC has sent a new letter to the court, reminding them of the changes in the Electoral Code, that from 2022 the election results will not be retrieved from the flash drives and again insisting on their return.

However, the court has appointed an examination of the machine vote, comparing the results of the machines' flash memories and the number of paper ballots printed by them in over a thousand sections.

CEC Deputy Chairman Rositsa Mateva added that these flash drives are necessary for the elections on June 9.

"Otherwise, the CEC will not be able to safely organize the elections and may have to buy additional flash drives,", explained Mateva.
