With three days of celebrations, the renovated First City Garden in Bulgaria is opened. It was established in 1878 in the center of Plovdiv. Its reconstruction lasted a year and cost BGN 4.5 million, Nova TV reported.
The infrastructure, the paths and the decoration in the park have been completely renewed. Next to it was Ivan Vazov's house, where he lived and worked for some time. Therefore, the idea of the local authority is to bear the name of the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature, and the adjoining street “Hristo G. Danov“ to become the second main street of Plovdiv after it becomes a pedestrian zone.
The official opening ceremony will be this evening with a special concert by the State Opera.
„We are talking about the first urban garden in Bulgaria and the first such in Plovdiv. This is the authentic center of our city. We managed to build water attractions, renew all the walkways with new pavements, new lighting, video surveillance, internet. For each one there will be a corner where he can rest.
And I am convinced that it will become a favorite, both for children and adults. Three couples just this weekend expressed a desire to enter into a civil marriage right in the city garden of our city, said the mayor of the Central district. in Plovdiv Georgi Stamenov.
