Police officers from RU-Kirkovo yesterday found the body of the 82-year-old resident of the village of Zdravchets, who was declared a national wanted person.
Residents of the area of the village of Dedets reported that they had spotted a woman in the area who matched the description circulated. Police officers visited the indicated place and found the body of the wanted woman on an island in the bed of the river Varbitsa in the territory of the village of Dedets, the police reported.
The elderly resident of the village of Zdravchets, whose search was joined by police officers from RU-Kirkovo, forest workers and people from the local population, walked about 7 km after leaving her home on the morning of April 21. An operational team on duty carried out an inspection, and a team from the Emergency Assistance Branch in the village of Benkovski was also on site. There are no reports of a violent death.
The body was transported for an autopsy to the Department of Forensic Medicine in Kardzhali. A pre-trial proceeding was established in RU-Kirkovo.
