Today the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) made a transfer to the Ministry of Finance in favor of the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria in the amount of BGN 660,000,000.00
The transfer was carried out in accordance with the Law on the BNB and is at the expense of the annual excess of revenues over the expenses of the BNB for the year 2023.
For the first time in years, the Bulgarian National Bank has realized solid profitability from the management of the country's international currency reserves, and thanks to this, it will contribute BGN 660 million to the 2024 Budget, BNB governor Dimitar told the deputies of the budget committee in the parliament Radev, quoted by Mediapool.
Bulgaria's international currency reserves managed by the BNB have reached a record amount of nearly BGN 82 billion as of December 29, 2023, but according to the latest data as of January 5, they are BGN 68.7 billion (around EUR 35 billion). 92% of them are invested in euro instruments, and 7% - in gold.
