Dupnish village of Samoranovo has been facing a serious problem for two days now - the lack of water . According to local residents, the cause of this emergency is related to the construction of the new prison in the area, BNR reports, quoted by news.bg.
The complex, which is already connected to the local water supply network, is using huge amounts of water during its completion works, which is causing serious difficulties for the water supply of the village, home to over 1,000 people.
The mayor of the village, Traiko Tsvetkov, confirmed the critical situation and stated that the water problem is permanent.
Before the construction of the prison began, the local population expressed serious concerns through petitions and protests. However, dissatisfaction subsided after the commitment of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Regional Development and Regional Development for a complete repair of the water supply network, with an announced budget of BGN 6,400,000.
The municipality of Dupnitsa announced a competition for the development of a project for the rehabilitation of the water supply network worth BGN 100,000. However, the deadline for completing the procedure is 2025, and until then there are no guarantees for the normal water supply in Samoranovo.
