On the second day of Easter, thousands of believers from all over the country from early in the morning flock to the Bachkovo Monastery to take part in the traditional liturgical procession with the miraculous icon of the Holy Virgin, NOVA reported.
She is taken out of the monastery and carried by the worshipers to the place where she was found. This is the oldest lithium procession preserved to this day in our country. It is believed that today our icon power is the greatest.
"This year, the holiday is taking place especially solemnly. Because we celebrate not only the Resurrection of Christ, but also St. George's Day. The lithium procession will begin at 8:30 a.m., when all believers will head to the "Kluvia" area, said on the air of "Hello, Bulgaria" declared Herodeacon Euthymius.
The worshipers walk the 6-kilometer distance from the Bachkovo Monastery to the “Kluviyata” on foot, carrying the face of the Mother of God in her arms along the long and steep road. The miraculous icon was discovered in the 17th century by two shepherds, high in the rocks above the monastery. It is believed that her power is greatest today - on the second day of Resurrection.
