Sofia celebrates Children's Day with a bunch of events  - 1

International Children's Day will be celebrated in Sofia with various events – June 1, BTA reported.

The mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, will mark the beginning of the month of the child in the city. At 9:00 a.m. in Knyajevska Garden, Terziev will open the children's holiday - “Dreaming Together”, the Metropolitan Municipality announced.

The Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) has planned a number of events in Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas and Varna, at which balloons will be distributed to children and information materials to their parents about the importance of immunizations, the organization announced. Partners in the initiative are the Ministry of Health, UNICEF – Bulgaria and the National Network of Health Mediators.

The Ministry of the Interior organizes a special holiday for children in the space between the department building (from “Parensov“ street) and the kindergarten at the church of “St. Seven digits“ from 10:00 a.m., the department announced. From 21:00 there will also be a 3D light video show on the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, part of the opening of the informational event "Together for a more secure future".

On the occasion of June 1, BDZ organizes a retro train trip to Bankya. The composition will be made up of a steam locomotive, five passenger carriages and two of the carriages of Tsar Boris III's royal composition “Corona Express”, the railway announced. The steam locomotive will leave Sofia Central Station at 09:55 and arrive in Bankya at 10:25. From Bankya the train will depart back to Sofia at 15:55 and arrive in the capital at 16:25.

Free use of lifts Vitoshko Lale 1 and Vitoshko Lale 2, for children up to 14 years old, organized by “Vitosha Ski”. This will be a symbolic start to the summer season over the capital, the company announced.

On the occasion of June 1, a charity run is organized by English language teachers and their students in the South Park in Sofia. The purpose of the event is to collect funds for medical equipment for children and to organize lectures to increase children's health culture. According to the organizers, the marathon “INdependent” aims to provoke attitudes among adolescents against the harms of smoking and stagnant lifestyles, harmful drinks and addictions. Two starts are planned – from 9:00 and from 10:00.

Between 10:00 and 15:00, children in Sofia will have the opportunity to sit on the "hot seat" in the simulator of "Metropolitan" in depot "Grounding" and experience the thrill of personally driving a training train, reported "Metropolitan" EAD in its Facebook profile. From there, they add that in addition to driving the trains, the children will also visit the hall where the machines "sleep". in the depot, and will get to know their construction and functions closely, in order to drive safely and comfortably.

International Children's Day - June 1 has been celebrated since 1925 according to the decision of the World Conference on the Welfare of Children with the participation of 54 countries, held the same year in Geneva, Switzerland, at which the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted regardless of his race, nationality and religion, indicates a reference of department "Reference" of BTA. On November 22, 1949, at a conference of the International Democratic Federation of Women in Moscow, USSR, it was decided to mark June 1 as International Children's Day in order to protect their rights, prohibit child labor, and ensure access to children to education. As such, the day has been celebrated since 1950 in over 50 countries, most of them from the former socialist bloc. In Bulgaria, June 1 was celebrated according to the decree of Tsar Boris III in 1927.
